You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger is a British-Spanish-American comedy-drama film written and directed by Woody Allen. The film features Roger Ashton-Griffiths (as Jonathan), Antonio Banderas (as Greg Clemente), Ewen Bremner (as Henry Strangler), Josh Brolin (as Roy), Anthony Hopkins (as Alfie), Gemma Jones (as Helena), Anupam Kher (as Dia's Father), Freida Pinto (as Dia), Lucy Punch (as Charmaine), Naomi Watts (as Sally) and Anna Friel (as Iris). Cinematography is by Vilmos Zsigmond, editing by Alisa Lepselter and distributed by Sony Pictures Classics (US), Warner Bros. Pictures/Pathé (UK).
The film has the story of a pair of married couples, Alfie (Hopkins) and Helena (Jones), and their daughter Sally (Watts) and husband Roy (Brolin). Their passions, desires, ambitions and anxieties lead them into trouble and make them crazy, rather mad characters out of nowhere. After Alfie leaves Helena to pursue his lost youthfulness and a free-spirited call girl named Charmaine (Punch), Helena abandons surrenders her life to the sloppy advice of a charlatan fortune teller, forming a liaison with recent widower, Jonathan (Ashton-Griffiths). As she is not happy with her marriage, Sally has a crush on her handsome art gallery owner boss Greg (Banderas), while Roy, a novelist awaiting the response to his new manuscript, becomes moonstruck over Dia (Freida Pinto), a mystery woman who catches his gaze through a nearby window (see the photo of Pinto above)…
The film has premiered on 15 May 2010 at the Cannes Film Festival in an out of competition slot. It is scheduled for a 23 September 2010 release in USA and it is expected to be released in UK in early 2011.Wednesday, August 25, 2010

Miss Universe 2010 Favourites: Maria Venus Raj
Online predictions and popularity poles put Maria Venus Raj from Philippines as one of the top favorites for the Miss Universe 2010 crown, followed by followed by Marelisa Gibson from Venezuela get second most voted contestant and in this competition Ximena Navarrete from Mexico and Natalia Navarro from Colombia get third and fourth voted contestant.
Born in Doha, Qatar, Miss Raj’s stats read “35-22-35’, 5 ft 9 in (1.75 m) tall, eye color brown, hair color black. Following her victory as Ms Bicolandia 2007, Maria Venus Raj represented Legazpi City and competed in the Miss Philippines-Earth 2008, and was named as Miss Philippines Earth Eco Tourism 2008. Maria Venus Raj was crowned in May 11, 2008 at Crowne Plaza Galleria, Manila.
Maria Venus Bayonito Raj, born on July 7, 1988, is one of the three reigning 2010 Binibining Pilipinas. She represents the Republic of the Philippines as a candidate for the Miss Universe 2010 beauty pageant.
Maria Venus Raj has lived in a nipa hut made of wood, bamboo and anahaw leaves with no electricity in the middle of a sprawling rice field in the rural Bato town for more than twenty years.
Reportedly, Maria Venus Raj was illegitimately born out of wedlock in Doha, Qatar. Upon separation of her parents, Maria Venus Raj was taken to Bato, Camarines Sur in Bicol, Philippines as an infant and was registered by an aunt as Philippine-born to Roman Catholic parents, a Filipino mother and an Indian father. It was her mother, a former tenant farmer and dressmaker who brought Maria Venus Raj up as a child.
The youngest among five children, Maria Venus Raj started joining local beauty pageants at 17 years old. She also joined oratorical contests at San Vicente High School where her English teacher served as her coach. With her victories in major contests, Venus Raj had started to buy land on installment basis for her mother as a means of improving their livelihood.

A sunbather's bizarre experience
I found this photo by chance on the photo-sharing site Flickr. It is one of the rarest of the rare photos that made me laugh, think, and feel pity for the girl who chose to sunbathe and fall asleep in a lonely place, seemingly a lawn or park, not frequented by people. See what the dog is doing!
Male dogs generally urinate on pillars or walls, or anything that is a bit raised from the ground. They are genetically engineered to do so! So the dog too could not find anything nearby when the urge to unload its bladder struck it! POOR GIRL!
The person who uploaded this photo wrote below the photo: "OGH MY GOD! - somebody give that girl a shout". The photographer is a real genius! He did not lose a moment to click the scene! I think, it can be the first and last chance for him to click a bizarre photo like this!
But don't you think it would have been more humane to do something to save the girl from such a bizarre experience?

On the sets of Endhiran at Machu Picchu
The first schedule of shooting for the film Endhiran commenced on 8 September 2008 at Peru, where a song sequence featuring Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai was shot under the choreography of Raju Sundaram and Claudia Bruckmann at Machu Picchu. The photo shows Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai as pictured at the Machu Picchu in Peru, filming a song sequence. During the final day of filming on 7 July 2010, the entire cast and crew, including Sun Pictures chairman, Hansraj Saxena, took part in a celebration party commemorating the completion of the two-year filming process.

Machu Picchu, meaning ‘Old Mountain’, is a pre-Columbian Inca site located 2,430 meters (7,970 feet) above sea level, on a mountain ridge above the Urubamba Valley in Peru. It is 80 kilometers (50 miles) northwest of Cuzco and through which the Urubamba River flows. Archaeologists believe that Machu Picchu was built for the Inca emperor Pachacuti (1438-1472 AD). Machu Picchu, mostly referred to as ‘The Lost City of the Incas’, is the most familiar icon of the Inca World and Inca culture and civilization.
