Sneha Ullal says comparison with Aishwarya Rai was unfair

Actress Sneha Ullal now feels that constant comparisons to Aishwarya Rai in the very beginning of her career worked against her, and did not help her, as reported by newspapers. She began her career with a tag that described her as an Aishwarya Rai look-alike. Though she got a dream launch opposite Salman Khan in 'Lucky-No Time For Love' in 2005, she could not make it big in Bollywood, despite starring in films like ‘Aryan’ opposite to Salman Khan’s filmmaker brother Sohail Khan in 2006, and ‘Kaashh... Mere Hote’ (2009). Both the movies could not work well at the box office, leaving the 22-year-old actress no option but to look for chances in South Indian cinema.

Sneha said, “Personally, it was one of the greatest compliments that I had. You don't often get compared to the most beautiful woman of your time.”

It seems now she is planning to come back to Bollywood industry, with her recent horror flick ‘Click’, starring Shreyas Talpade. Click is a 2010 Hindi film starring Shreyas Talpade. However, there are reports of her having signed up for acting in a couple of new Bollywood films.

Aishwarya Rai or Sneha Ullal?

Who is this beautiful lady? Well, she was not named in the post on Flickr from where I picked up this shot. Could she be Aishwarya Rai or Sneha Ullal, or any other woman?

Do you recognize her for sure? I would like to know, at least for the future, so that I do not commit a blunder while posting photos direct from photo-sharing sites such as Flickr, Photobucket.com, and video-sharing sites such as YouTube.

I have heard some time ago that for every person alive now, there can be nine others who can look similar to him or her. That is what you call a look-alike, impersonator, as a photo-blogger Arianna called herself, while claiming to be a Marilyn Monroe look-alike or Marilyn Monroe impersonator. Also at the time of invasion of Iraq by the US and allied forces in 2003, and when Saddam Hussein escaped from his palace in Baghdad, there had been rumors circulating that Hussein had an array of look-alikes, who looked so real that even Iraqis could not tell who was the real Saddam Hussein and who the duplicates were (he was captured by the U.S. forces on 13 December 2003).

Sneha Ullal is an Indian Bollywood and Tollywood film actress (born on December 18, 1987 in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman). She studied at Durelo Convent High School in Mumbai and later studied at MMK College, where she befriended Arpita, her college mate and the younger sister of Bollywood actor Salman Khan. The friendship led to the chance meeting with Salman Khan and her first movie “Lucky” opposite Salman Khan. It was a moderate success. Sneha also starred in “Aryan” with co-star Sohail Khan, who is Salman Khan's younger brother.
Meanwhile, she was cast by Canadian-American actor-producer Steg Dorr alongside Sikh Canadian star Sunny Leone in the 2008 Bollywood-Hollywood co-production “Pirate's Blood” but she quit when the film was delayed for eight months. Dorr later described her, "A young actress of great talent who was unfairly labelled a Rai clone when in fact her charms were unique and her mixed Sindh-Bunt beauty was only passing in resemblance to that of Rai, who shared the same distant Bunt heritage. Whether or not she was actually discovered by Khan, or simply attracted attention with her charisma and natural beauty is arguable. She was destined to be a star irregardless because of her striking central performance in ‘Lucky’, as far as I am concerned”.
Though later the film was delayed due to some unrevealed reason it was released and has gone without any remarks. She bears an uncanny resemblance to Bollywood queen Aishwarya Rai. It was rumored she got the role in Lucky because of her resemblance to Aishwarya Rai. She is currently working on Sangeeth Sivan's ‘Click’, also starring Shreyas Talpade and a Telugu film with the director Karunakaran.
