Hrithik Roshan (Jodhaa Akbar) and Priyanka Chopra (Fashion) won the best actor and actress trophy respectively at the 10th annual IIFA (International Indian Film Academy) awards at the gala event attended by 8,000 people in Macau, China.
The awards were announced at the end of a three-day event, including film and music launches, a celebrity fashion show, a global business forum and a performance by Cirque du Soleil.
The Bollywood film Jodhaa Akbar, has dominated the awards ceremony with six prizes, including the best picture, best actor for Hrithik Roshan and best director for Ashutosh Gowariker. Jodhaa Akbar also won awards for best song lyrics, best music direction for AR Rahman and best male playback singer.
The best supporting actor award was won by Arjun Rampal (Rock On!). Kangana Ranaut won the best supporting actress award for her performance in the movie “Fashion”. The Oscar-nominated 2001 film Lagaan was named film of the decade.
Amitabh Bachchan, the Brand Ambassador of IIFA, presented the lifetime achievement award to veteran actor Rajesh Khanna. "The word superstar in the Indian film industry was for the first time coined for him," Bachchan said.
Aishwarya Rai, who won the best actress of the decade and outstanding achievement in international cinema award, performed at the event. Other awards included male star of the decade for Shah Rukh Khan, and director of the decade for Rakesh Rohan.
