As reported by various agencies, Akshay Kumar, only a temporary resident of Juhu, Mumbai, had to get back to his original self, Rajiv Bhatia, resident of Chandni Chowk, Delhi 6, while filling the “surrender form” at the police station for his arrest.
During the recently concluded Lakme Fashion Week, he walked the ramp and then went to his wife, Twinkle Khanna, who was seated in the audience, and asked her to unbutton his jeans. After this, a social worker filed a complaint with the Vakola Police against Akshay Kumar, Twinkle Khanna, the fashion show organizers and the hotel management, alleging indecent, vulgar and obscene behavior.
Akshay Kumar had gone to South Africa for a shoot before the case was filed. He could not return in April as planned and he flew to Singapore for the shooting of another film. The police had earlier arrested Twinkle and released her on the bail.
On his return to Mumbai on Monday, along with his advocate, he arrived at the office of the Assistant Commissioner of Police in Vile Parle and then proceeded to Vakola police station. The police recorded his statement, completed other legal formalities and then released him on bail.
Senior Inspector Sanjay Nekalikar of Vakola station said, "He surrendered, after which we recorded his statement and released him on a surety of Rs 950. The actor said whatever happened was not done intentionally.''
On his arrival in Mumbai, he told media reporters, "I just want to make it home from the airport without my car being egged by all those who have never been unbuttoned by their wives."
Akshay Kumar, an accomplished actor, had appeared in many Bollywood hit films, and Chandni Chowk to China, the first Hindi language film to be shot on location in China, though the film was not a big hit.
