You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger is a British-Spanish-American comedy-drama film written and directed by Woody Allen. The film features Roger Ashton-Griffiths (as Jonathan), Antonio Banderas (as Greg Clemente), Ewen Bremner (as Henry Strangler), Josh Brolin (as Roy), Anthony Hopkins (as Alfie), Gemma Jones (as Helena), Anupam Kher (as Dia's Father), Freida Pinto (as Dia), Lucy Punch (as Charmaine), Naomi Watts (as Sally) and Anna Friel (as Iris). Cinematography is by Vilmos Zsigmond, editing by Alisa Lepselter and distributed by Sony Pictures Classics (US), Warner Bros. Pictures/Pathé (UK).

The film has the story of a pair of married couples, Alfie (Hopkins) and Helena (Jones), and their daughter Sally (Watts) and husband Roy (Brolin). Their passions, desires, ambitions and anxieties lead them into trouble and make them crazy, rather mad characters out of nowhere. After Alfie leaves Helena to pursue his lost youthfulness and a free-spirited call girl named Charmaine (Punch), Helena abandons surrenders her life to the sloppy advice of a charlatan fortune teller, forming a liaison with recent widower, Jonathan (Ashton-Griffiths). As she is not happy with her marriage, Sally has a crush on her handsome art gallery owner boss Greg (Banderas), while Roy, a novelist awaiting the response to his new manuscript, becomes moonstruck over Dia (Freida Pinto), a mystery woman who catches his gaze through a nearby window (see the photo of Pinto above)…

The film has premiered on 15 May 2010 at the Cannes Film Festival in an out of competition slot. It is scheduled for a 23 September 2010 release in USA and it is expected to be released in UK in early 2011.

Freida Pinto is not the next Bond Girl?

The mainstream press in India reported that Slumdog Millionaire star Freida Pinto has signed up to appear in the next James Bond film opposite Daniel Craig, who plays the role of James Bond. But the website Breaking News Online reports that Pinto has denied ‘reports that she has signed a multi-million pound deal to be the next Bond Girl’. The site also reports that her ‘official spokesperson said that she has not been approached to be part of the next James Bond film’.

Freida Pinto’s films in post production stage are ‘Miral’ and the tentatively titled ‘You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger’. ‘Miral’, directed by Julian Schnabel, features Willem Dafoe, Freida Pinto and Hiam Abbass. ‘You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger’ is written and directed by Woody Allen featuring Antonio Banderas, Josh Brolin, Anthony Hopkins, Freida Pinto and Naomi Watts. Both the films are tentatively scheduled for release in 2010.

She has reportedly signed up also for 'Dawn of War', a Greek mythological film, produced by Mark Canton and directed by Tarsem Singh, starring Henry Cavill opposite her. The film is tentatively scheduled for 2011.

The Slumdog Millionaire star Freida Pinto who is becoming a part of Hollywood with her two upcoming films with some of the most respected directors, now stands alongside big names like Cherie Blair, Nita Ambani, Priyanka Chopra, Sania Mirza and many others in supporting the foundation named 'Nanhi Kali', an initiative of the famous business tycoon Anand Mahindra. The foundation has started a website www.101women.org that will carry Freida's bio-data along with her photograph. She would be involved with the foundation to provide free education to 1,00,000 girls across India by 2010. Nanhi Kali aims to rope in the support of “101 most successful women in the world”, out of which one is Pinto.

With Freida’s fan following and global appeal in the west, the foundation hopes she could easily manage to pull in many celebrities who would donate for the cause, according to Sheetal Mehta, President, Mahindra Foundation Trust.

The Slumdog Millionaire star Freida Pinto is the only Indian actress who has made it to 2009 Maxim Hot 100, featuring at # 49 much ahead of other big Hollywood names, such as Sienna Miller and Beyoncé Knowles.

The actress is upset as her naked pictures have surfaced online, and recently she was clicked while coming out of the washroom on the sets of the under-production movie “Miral” that focuses on the interwoven lives of Israeli and Palestinian women from the early years of the state through the early 1990s.

Actress Freida Pinto has bagged roles in a number of International projects including Woody Allen’s next film set in London; other cast members include Josh Brolin, Anthony Hopkins, Antonio Banderas, and Naomi Watts, and the shooting for the film is planned to start in July 2009.

On 13 May 2009 it was announced that Freida will be the new 'face' of L'Oréal in spite of rumors that she was due to sign a "six figure deal" with competitor Estee Lauder.

The Slumdog Millionaire star Freida Pinto overtakes Indian actresses to be the real millionaire queen of Bollywood, a report by Dean Nelson for the Telegraph says. Pinto shot into fame with her debut performance in the Oscar-winning movie, Slumdog Millionaire.

Freida Pinto, who performed the role of Latika, the girl for whose love the young slum-dweller of Mumbai, Jamal (British actor Dev Patel) risks his life and appears on the Indian version of “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire”, is now the highest paid actress in India.

Pinto was relatively unknown in India and unheard of in Hollywood, until the release of Slumdog Millionaire. Since the film bagged eight Oscars, she has landed a series of lucrative roles in films of a number of top directors, including Woody Allen and American filmmaker Julian Schnabel in his film, “Miral”.

Sources close to Freida Pinto revealed that she has now overtaken top Bollywood actresses such as Kareena Kapoor, Katrina Kaif and former Miss World Aishwarya Rai, who recently starred with Steve Martin in “Pink Panther 2”. But Pinto’s earnings have now topped £2 million, they said.

"Freida can't be compared to Aishwarya, because we're not pitching her as an Indian girl in international films. Freida is a true global face," said Anirban Das, CEO of her management company.

"Freida is fast reaching top status in the international arena. The actress's projects with big film makers like Woody Allen have helped her join a league which no other Indian actress has achieved so far," said another film analyst.

Even otherwise, Freida Pinto is on cloud nine, having walked international ramps for top fashion designers, and appearing on the covers of some of the top international magazines in a very short time span, a feat that no other Indian model or actress achieve in such a short time span.

As an extra icing on the cake, she appeared in the Vanity Fair list of the “World’s Most Beautiful Women” recently, and in the just now released “FHM 100 Sexiest Women 2009”, in which she is in the top 10.

The “Slumdog Millionaire” star, the 24-year-old Freida Pinto, who was the only Indian to feature in the list of “Most beautiful women in the world” put to online voting by Vanity Fair, polled only 2 percent of the total votes to come at #4. Cate Blanchette and Beyonce Knowles also polled only 2% votes. However, Freida Pinto was voted ahead of celebrity females like the French First Lady and model Carla Bruni, Kate Moss and Gwyneth Paltrow. Angelina Jolie topped the list at #1 position with a huge margin of votes. Freida Pinto was also ahead of Elle McPherson, Kerry Washington and Kate Moss, who scored only 1% of the total votes. The Indian beauty was a surprise entry in the list which ignored Hollywood superstars like Charlize Theron and Nicole Kidman.

According to contactmusic.com, the 18-year-old Dev Patel has shot to fame with his first ever movie role and is grateful to Pinto for helping him deal with the whirlwind attention that he has suddenly received from worldwide.

Dev Patel is reported to have said, "We're soulmates because we're both in this surreal situation. She is very beautiful. I haven't got a girlfriend but Freida, my co-star, is gorgeous," but he clarified that they are not romantically involved at all.

According to reports, 400 prints of the film are released in India and the opening box office collections were a huge success. The entire cast and crew, including the director and producer were present in India during the premiere of the film. Providentially, the film got 10 Oscar nominations which were announced on the day the film premiered in India.

The 52-crore film has already done business worth more than Rs 200 in USA and UK where it was a huge hit.

Out of the 10 Oscar nominations the film received, 4 are for Indians, 3 for A R Rahman and one for sound re-mixing team that includes Resul Pookutty.

Resul Pookutty, the Indian film sound designer and mixer, hails from Kollam, Kerala. He is a 1995 graduate from Film and Television Institute of India, Pune. He also designed sound for the 2008 blockbuster Ghajini, starring Aamir Khan and directed by Murugadoss. Slumdog Millionaire is his first major international project that won him an Academy award nomination for Best Sound Mixing, along with Ian Tapp, Richard Pryke.

The Indian premiere of Slumdog Millionaire in Mumbai on 22 January 2009 was attended by major personalities of the Indian film industry. The dubbed Hindi version, Slumdog Crorepati, was also released in India in addition to the original film.
