Charmi, the heroine of flop movies
Indian movie actress Charmy Kaur - also known as Charmi or Charmi Kaur - acted in her debut film, Nee Thodu Kaavali, a Telugu movie released in March 2002, in which she acted as a house wife Manasa. Though the film was a big flop, it helped Charmi get noticed by the south Indian film industry. Her next film was in Tamil, "Kadal Azhavatillai" (2002) with Silambarasan which also flopped. In 2002 itself, she acted in a Malayalam film "Kattuchembakam" directed by the noted Malayalam film director Vinayan. This film also bombed at the box office. That makes three straight flops for the Punjabi girl Charmi Kaur in her debut year itself in Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam film industries.
In 2003 too success eluded the sexy beautiful actress as her Tamil films Aahaa Ethanai Azhagu (2003) and Kadhal Kisu Kisu (2003) also bombed at the box office. Her re-entry into Telugu movies with Sri Anjaneyam (2004) in which she enacted the role of Padmavathi alias Padhu, was directed by ace director Krishna Vamsi. This too failed miserably. It was followed by another flop Telugu film Chanti (2004) paired against Ravi Teja.
Charmi, though acted in films of all the major South Indian languages like Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada (she acted in Kannada film Lavakusha in 2007), is considered a Tollywood actress as she had the maximum number of Telugu films compared to her other language films. She acted with stars such as Simbu, Venkatesh, Akkineni Nagarjuna, Prabhas, Siddarth, Ravi Teja, Sumanth, Nitin and Junior NTR.
