The South Indian actress Ramya (born in Bangalore, Karnataka State on November 29, 1981, her real name Divya Spandana) is referred to as the “golden girl of Sandalwood” (the Kannada film industry), as most of her films were super hits. She has worked with almost all the top stars of Kannada movies, Ganesh, Puneet Rajkumar, Sunil Rao, Sudeep, Murali, Aadithya, Upendra, Dhyan, Vijaya Raghvendra, Dharshan and Prem.

Ramya has acted in Tamil movies also and she is known by her real name, Divya Spandana in Tamil movies. Her breakthrough in Tamil movies was through the film “Polladhavan” in 2007, and the film starred Dhanush. The Tamil superstar Rajanikanth praised the entire crew of Polladhavan for the film’s success. Gautham Menon's "Varanam Aayiram" opposite Surya was her last film in Kollywood.

After Ramya schooling at St. Hilda's school in Ooty (Tamil Nadu) she studied at St. Joseph's College of Commerce, Bangalore. Ramya debuted with Kannada movie Abhi starring against Puneet Rajkumar. Her latest hit film "Arasu", released in early 2007, also starred Puneet Rajkumar and Meera Jasmine.
